Fighting Sextortion
Sextortion happens when someone threatens to share private images, videos, or messages unless you send money, more content, or comply with their demands. It is manipulation — not your fault.
How sextortion typically starts
- They quickly move the conversation off the app.
- They escalate intimacy very fast.
- They request explicit photos or video calls early.
- They claim they “recorded” the video call without your knowledge.
- They threaten to send content to your followers or family.
What to do immediately
- Do NOT send money or additional images.
- Stop responding immediately.
- Screenshot all messages and threats.
- Block the account.
- Report the user in the app.
Important to remember
Most sextortion attempts are mass scams. Paying rarely stops the threat. Responding often encourages further demands.
If content has already been shared
- Do not panic — stay calm and document everything.
- Report the content on the platform where it appears.
- Contact local authorities if you feel threatened.
- Reach out to someone you trust for support.
